SEO - SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION
Clients | Adultworld
Complete removal of former ‘black hat’ banner and a new singular banner placed centred across the top of the index page.

This involved a complete recode and then manually creating new code as to place new banner provided by client in a centred fixed position on the index page, also adding any code necessary for search engine optimisation purposes.

2 new banner positions coded manually into multiple files and were transferred via FTP client and manipulated with a text editor.

Care was taken to ensure no “array” errors that could hinder the sites accessibility.

Banners were successfully coded into any supporting files necessary and work then began on making them accessible to the end user.

After an extensive testing period the 2 new banners were made fully functional onto the site where by the client could now manipulate the banner positions content and functionality through the admin panel of the site.

*Note – recoding had to take place as client specified banners ‘when clicked’ needed to target a new page in the same browser window – not in a separate browser window.

After another testing period banners were deemed fit and were fully installed once again into http://www.adultworld.co.uk.

1 new banner placement also coded into the left column of the site

News desk optimisation,

The new News desk feature was not displaying any feeds.

Time was taken to correct the entire layout on the page and on the module in question, no code was removed from the module itself, two major layout issues were corrected between lines 308-333 and 339-352, where code was modified and commented to indicate the nature of work carried out.

The main Navigation bar – work involved manually recoding the main navigation bar including fixing multiple errors that originally existed including dead links which would seriously affect the sites usability to the end user and affect the sites popularity with various search engines.

Work involved targeting all “header” “alt” and “title” tags for optimum seo performance for a targeted keyword chosen by the client.

Work then had to be carried out on the sites footer to ensure symmetrical balance existed as requested by the client; various dead links were manually removed and recoded for quicker load time of the site.

Removal of a main page module on the index page, client requested multiple images to be erased from the home page just above the footer. This involved manually editing multiple pages to the module so that the site would remain operational at all times.

Another main page module also had to be removed to make the site more aesthetically pleasing, content that was placed above existing banners was recoded; again multiple pages had to be manually edited to enable the module to still function but allow critical SEO text to remain. New SEO content was then created and placed just above the footer to increase the overall content on the site and to improve overall ranking on various search engines.

Client requested grammatical errors to be removed as text would decrease sales on the site – after email, instant messaging and telephone consultations occurred – client was educated on very basic Search Engine Optimisation principles at no extra cost and a resolution was reached.

Optimisation of the featured products module – new code was added to create better spacing and increase overall content size of the module.

Store Locator – the store locator previously installed by the client once clicked would target self and open the desired page from then the instance was lost and replaced with a semi functioning drop down menu, by where the locator would not refresh the content accurately then not forward on to any other store pages.

Multiple pages had to be recoded and integrated in to site after a testing period, then cross linked together, creation of new graphic was implemented and as the client requested was coded to be dynamic. Care was taken to minimise any loss of functionality to the pages or the store locator application – after viewing the original code it was determined the store locator had been coded incorrectly and was not only hindering the load time of the page but the overall SEO performance.

The work was finally uploaded and then had to be manipulated again at the clients request, from there another brief testing period occurred and then went live.

Work was also carried out on the layout of the page as was requested by the client the images on the site were to be place above any text and separated by a horizontal rule command.

The catalogue page was recoded to display information on the privilege card scheme the client is implementing; text was removed and replaced with a new block previously emailed. Code had to be manipulated to correctly display the pre formatted text that had been sent, and also coding had to take place on the contact for originally in place on the site.

A new Ladies Night segment was created on the site to advertise a new ladies night taking place in the clients premises located around the country, work had to be carried out again on multiple pages due to the sites heavily modified state, the ‘sex tips’ feature had to be removed as this again was seriously affecting SEO performance on the page by being a dead link, once this code had been removed new code was put in place and then linked to an existing module that can be accessed through the sites admin feature and edited by the client.

After a testing period the page was made live, changes had to be made as requested by the client so placement of text and layout was then edited accordingly.

The individual sub category pages were manipulated to display sub category header in rows of 3 rather than an original 2 column layout that was already in place.

A new page created to display the last posting dates of royal mail as requested by the client. This was coded into the header of the site, and directly links to an external which displays all the necessary information for the last postage dates in the UK.
